together with our partner organisation Women for Human Rights we are looking for an
International Peace Worker in Nepal
Field of work:
As an International Peace Worker you will be supporting a Nepali organisation in strengthening its work in the area of conflict transformation and the support of conflict affected women in the context of the transitional justice process in Nepal. The project works with groups of conflict affected women in five districts and aims at strengthening conflict affected women and advocate for their rights on local level.
- Planning and implementation of the CPS project jointly with the local peaceworker
- Preparing and facilitating trainings/workshops for women as actors in conflict transformation, especially for district staff
- Supporting the partner organisation on issues like transitional justice, human rights mechanisms, and gender-based violence
- Integrating into the partner organisations team and adjustment to the partner organisations’ working conditions, developing strategies jointly with the partner organisation to better address organizational needs, as well to establish a functional project monitoring system
- Ensuring a proper and adequate application of funds and regular communication
with the country coordinator, other CPS projects in Nepal and KURVE Wustrow in Germany - Developing ongoing conflict and security analysis related to the CPS work and close cooperation with other CPS workers in Nepal
- Where necessary public relation and networking activities in Germany
Requirements:
- University or similar degree in peace and conflict studies, or another relevant field
- Relevant training in conflict transformation or similar field
- Work experience within NGOs, preferably in international and conflict context
- Sound knowledge and experience in the field of strengthening gender equality, women empowerment (rights-based approach) and/or international women networks or movements
- Knowledge in one or several of the following fields: transitional justice mechanisms, dealing with the past through memory creation, (international) human rights instruments and/or women rights
- Experience in developing and facilitating trainings, skills in research based advocacy, project management and strategy development skills
- Willingness to travel to remote areas
- Team player with intercultural competences, ability for self-reflection, high flexibility, motivation
- Experience working in post-disaster context is an asset
- Knowledge of the context and work experience in Nepal would be an asset
- Professional command of English and motivation to learn Nepalese
- German language skills would be an asset
Contractual Conditions:
We offer a contract according to the German law for development aid workers (only for EU-citizens, incl. Switzerland) until December 31st, 2021 provided that the subsequent application in the CPS program is approved beyond 31.12.2020 and on the condition of granted visa. The contract including a preparation period in Germany would start presumably on February 1st,2020.
